AI Assistant & AI steps
#How AI helps you
AI is optional and off until you set it up. It helps in four places: the AI Assistant page (talk to it, and have it build a workflow or a plugin from a sentence), finding things on screen when a target is hard to pin down, AI nodes you drop into a workflow, and the Mobyx Brain. It needs a paid plan. Nothing is sent anywhere until you save a key (or choose a model on your own computer).
#Setting it up
Settings → AI. At the top choose which job you are setting: the AI Assistant or the Mobyx Brain. Each has its own provider, model and backup, or the Brain can follow the Assistant.
1. Pick a provider. Groq has a free tier. ChatGPT, Claude and others use your own key. Local model (Ollama) is free and private.
2. Paste your key and press Test.
3. Tick Let Smart nodes ask the AI if you want Smart steps to use it.
Keys are encrypted for your Windows account, one per provider, and never written into a workflow.
#Which AI, in a step
Click and Detect have a Which AI choice (the AI Assistant's model or the Mobyx Brain's), shown whenever the AI is in play. Right under it, a line says whether it can run now: Using the AI Assistant: Groq · gpt-oss, or what is missing (no key, or Smart AI help switched off). The AI nodes (Chat, Vision, Document, Decision, Embedding) have the same choice, plus This node's own settings.
#Finding things on screen, in plain words
In Click (and Detect), tick Ask AI If Not Found, or set the target type to AI, and describe the target the way you would to a person: the blue Continue button at the bottom. The AI is given a list of what is really on screen and picks one, so the tap lands on that element, not a guessed coordinate. What it works out is remembered, so later runs find the same element with no call and no cost.
#Having it build for you
On the AI Assistant page, say “build me a workflow that …” and it draws one onto the canvas in a new tab, with a JSON file you can save. Say “make a plugin that …” and the plugin maker opens and starts writing it. Questions are answered as questions; it only builds when you ask it to build.
#Staying in control
AI never runs on its own: only when a step asks for it and a model is available. If it is unsure, the step reports not-found instead of tapping something random.
